Well it is Monday afternoon June 28th the temperature is just about 103 as we leave Marysville CA on highway 20. The car behind flashes their lights and as I check the mirrors I see smoke and pieces of tire flying from the right rear of the fifth wheel. The road has a wide shoulder so I pull off as quickly as I can. Not a nice way to start a long journey east. Except for the hole in the bottom of the trailer and the completely demolished tire we are OK and with the help of a stranger (Gene Starr) we are back on the road in about an hour. A little bit shaken but not much the worst for wear. Except now we have no spare tire for the trailer. But not to worry we know a fellow in Heber City that ownes a Tire shop and he can resolve that problem. I decide now to keep driving through the night so that it is cooler for the tires.
